ESPRI With WHO-EMRO office

The outcome of collaboration of ESPRI and WHO-EMRO office on Cairo, 2 days activity

 

First Day : Wednesday 8th November 2006

 

The workshop starts at 10 am in the Kuwait hall of the EMRO office ,Cairo ,Egypt.

The workshop started by a recognition to those working with ESPRI either in the medical field or mass media and it is a time of recognition to their effects along the past 4 years;
• followed by a scientific session:
- Dr. Mohamed Awad Tag Eldin, spoke about smoking as a public health problem
- Dr.Chris Lofferedo spoke about Epidemiology of Shisha in Egypt
- Dr. Osama El-Khateeb spoke about the burden of non-communicable diseases as an outcome of smoking.
- Dr. Fatma Elawa spoke about media and its role in smoking prevention motivation.

Training Workshop

The second day included the training of smoking cessation program (Quit4Life) for the physician of ministry of health and population those will be inserted in smoking cessation clinics. The training is given in 4 session, each one represented a step in the program:
 Step 1: Get Motivated.
 Step 2: Get Smart.
 Step 3: Get Support.
 Step 4: Get On With It
 

 

Smoking Cessation

(Quit 4 Life Program)

Attended by 61 persons who are working on smoking cessation clinics on MOHP hospitals. The objective is to enforce the role of the clinics in smoking cessation.

The training is done by Dr. Nahla El-Sayed, Dr. Hesham Ramy, Dr. Amany Haroon and Dr. Jihan Elnahas.
